Such a nice little find this waterhole! Around 1hr 20mins drive north of Brisbane, with the last 20mins spent on an unsealed road, I would suggest, it’s best to go in a SUV or 4WD. Park your car up and then it’s just a 200m walk down to the waterhole, super easy!
This waterhole is quite big/spread out, so you’ll be able to find a nice spot away from everyone, if it’s really busy. The water is so refreshing and just the right temperature to cool you down in summer! There is also a cute little waterfall at the top of the waterhole, that you can dip your head under.
Surrounded by thick bush land and steep rock faces it feels quite secluded at Rocky Hole and is extremely nice when you and your friends are the only ones there. Like having your own private oasis.
I’d recommend this to anyone with kids, or people who don’t want to/can’t walk too far to go for a dip. The drive up is so picturesque as well if you go through Petrie and Dayboro. It showcases excellent views to the West and the East along the way. It would be perfect to spend the afternoon at Rocky Hole, then enjoy the sunset as you drive back the scenic route to Brisbane.
